This year too, the light festival “Staro Rīga” invites you to celebrate light by taking to the streets of Riga to experience positive emotions and the joy of surprise together on these dark evenings.

The overall route of the festival is divided into six Circles of Light through the city, starting with the light objects at the National Library of Latvia, followed by the Old Riga Circle of Light, the Freedom Monument Circle of Light, the Riga Central Parks Circle of Light – Vērmanes Dārzs, Esplanade, the Brīvības Street Circle of Light and finally – the Miera Street Circle of Light. You will be greeted by more than forty light objects that tell the story of dawn, hope and a new day. The festival route is adapted for a shorter or longer walk, its approximate length is six kilometers and it is designed so that it can be walked both in one evening and in several evenings, each of which choosing to view the light objects in each separate circle of light.

The theme of the festival this year is “Dawn Heralds”. This year, “Staro Rīga” invites you to see light as a messenger of a new beginning – as hope that is born from darkness, celebrating Latvia’s birthday together.

This year’s festival will feature artists from Portugal, Macedonia, the Netherlands, France, Canada, Germany, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Romania and Italy, along with our light object creators.
