Artisans will craft hand carved slides tunnels intricately designed ice thrones

Embracing the snow icicles and the chilly weather is something that’s amazing during a Canadian winter especially within beautiful spots in Alberta. Now if you’re anything like me you’ll be hankering to see some of this picturesque side of winter with the Edmonton Ice Castle being one of the prettiest. When the weather outside is frightful we dream of escaping to a tropical beach without a trace of snow in sight. But these enchanting photos of Ice Castles an attraction opening in Lincoln New Hampshire on January 22nd are about to change your winter travel plans.

The magical frozen playground which was started by Brent Christensen after he built his daughter an ice cave is exactly what it sounds like an acre covered in larger than life ice sculptures. Walk through frozen arches and tunnels while admiring towers so intricate they'd make Elsa from Disney's Frozen jealous. Colorful lights will take your breath away while ice slides will entertain children and adults alike.

We start the planning throughout the summer as far as the layout and the design. And then in October we bring in a big build crew. We start laying out all the electrical and the plumbing for the lights that are all buried into the ice as well as the entire sprinkler heads to build the castle itself. So it starts early on in the summer we start the build phase starting in the fall, and then once it gets cold usually around thanks giving the first of December then we can turn the water on and start building the castle.

Frozen fractals are all around in Lincoln New Hampshire this winter. Towering, LED-lit structures replete with cavernous room’s slippery slides, stalactites and stalagmites and ice thrones will be available for exploration in January. It’s all part of New England’s own ice castle a fantastical attraction that began with a project in a Utah yard. Over the years they grew more elaborate with slides, caves and towers and Christensen realised he could expand.

The artisans will craft hand carved slides tunnels fountains crawl spaces caverns and intricately designed ice thrones near the shore of Lake George. At night the frozen fairytale setting is transformed into a colorful explosion with embedded LED lights creating a beautiful enchanting glow throughout the experience. Each castle is approximately one acre in size and consists of more than 25 million pound
