Varaha is the incarnation of the Hindu god Vishnu.

Varaha is the incarnation of the Hindu god Vishnu. In this incarnation Vishnu took the form of a wild boar. According to the Puranas, he rescued the earth from the hands of a demon named Hiranyaksha. Hiranyaksha hid the earth under the cosmic ocean. Vishnu, disguised as a pig, fought and defeated Hiranyaksha for a thousand years, defeating and killing him. He then rescued the earth from the bottom of the cosmic ocean. And Lord Vishnu in the incarnation of Varaha took Bhudevi (earth-goddess) as his wife.
