App Description

NRP (Then known as NALS) is skill-based with hands - on training program. It is a popular and interactive continuing medical education (CME) program and acted as a catalyst for launching other programmes for the care of mothers and their children in India. The successful implementation of this programme by the motivated NNF faculty had led to its association with the implementation of the newborn component of Child Survival and Safe Motherhood (CSSM) programme (1992–1997).

In 2010 new resuscitation guidelines proposed certain major changes like recommendation on delivery room oxygen saturation monitoring, CPAP etc. this has leads to a nationwide debate whether it was possible to use these guidelines in Indian setting? Taking the leads, NNF constituted a Technical committee with an objective to formulate guidelines for India which suit for our country in terms of infrastructure & manpower. The team of national expert were requested to formulate a resuscitation programme which is evidence based and easy to understand both by doctors as well as nursing personnel.

NNF published these guideline in the first edition of Text book on “Neonatal Resuscitation: India” in November 2013. For the purpose of simplicity and to facilitate implementation with in the national neonatal health care programme, the guideline have been adopted for two level- Basic and Advanced.
