Why Aella?

We exist to simplify and open up financial access for all in emerging markets - by leveraging technology and widespread mobile adoption, we build products to make an impact at the frontier of Financial Inclusion.

Our app has a feature for verifying addresses, which requires the ability to monitor regions and receive location updates in the background. This feature is essential for accurately verifying a user's address and providing access to higher loan limits and tier 3 level transaction limits.

We have created a video showcasing this feature, which we have attached for your reference. You can see in the video how the app monitors a user's location and registers a region around their address. Once the user has visited the region a certain number of times, the address is verified.

We understand that enabling the "Location" background mode can have an impact on battery life, and we have taken steps to minimize this impact. For example, we only monitor regions that are explicitly registered by the user and don't monitor location updates when the user is outside registered region.

We believe that our use of the "Location" background mode is essential for the core functionality of our app and we have demonstrated this in the video.
