Divide Et Impera

Divide Et Impera is a game which shows the mechanisms behind hate speech and its negative consequences on society. In the game, the player interacts with a connected group of diverse people, initially in good relations among each other. By using potentially divisive speech in various forms, the player tries to bring out division and hostility, finally separating the group in fractions.

Through manipulation of a simulated small community, the player can be confronted with and made aware of actual mechanisms used to influence people in social media. In this way, adolescents can learn to be more critical about the sources and content of information they find online.
