Matthew Henry was a theologian, writer, and study Bible commentator born in Broad Oak, Wales, in 1662.

The son of a clergyman, he received a very good education and studied in London at the age of 18. He wrote numerous catechisms and sermons, but he became known for his Bible commentaries: An Exposition of the Old and the New Testament.

This great free Bible study work was written in his later years and has been recognized as the best Bible commentary in English. Before his death, he reached the Book of Acts, and after his death, his work was completed by Puritan scholars based on his writings and notes based on the Reina Valera (King James Version).
