Children, but actually all people, need roots to grow. Roots hold you in place and nourish you. At the same time, roots give you important norms and values, ideas on how best to approach things. All important information for healthy growth! Sometimes things go wrong with young people, resulting in their growth being stunted. Young people themselves suffer from this, but often those around them also suffer from this. This is the time to ask the young person if there is someone he/she trusts, a so-called mentor. We call this person a JIM: Your Introduced Mentor.

Since the appearance of the JIM approach in 2016, more and more organizations have started working with the JIM approach. By positioning a JIM, organizations work on sustainable care, in which the informal network plays an important and long-term role. The positioning of a JIM prevents out-of-home placements.

The JIM approach is used in various contexts: at school, in the neighborhood, in outpatient care programs and within mental health care and residential groups. It doesn't matter for the young people, parents and JIM, but for organizations it matters from which context you work. We at JIMwerkt help and guide organizations in implementing the JIM approach.
