Phỏm (Danh bai phom), also known as Tá Lả (Ta la, Phom, Phom Ta la), Tú Lơ Khơ (Tu Lo Kho), or Ù (u), is a popular card game in Vietnam. Phỏm is widely enjoyed because of its easy-to-understand, exciting, and thrilling gameplay. This game can be played anywhere, from coffee shops to family gatherings, during holidays, Tet celebrations, or friendly get-togethers. Not only is it entertaining, but it also requires players to think, calculate, and strategize.

Phỏm uses a standard deck of 52 cards and typically involves 2 to 4 players in a game. Each player is dealt 9 cards (the dealer receives 10 cards), with the remaining cards forming a draw pile. The objective of the game is to form as many Phỏm (Meld) as possible while minimizing the points of ungrouped cards (rác) that do not belong to any Phỏm(Meld). Phỏm(Meld) consists of groups of cards with the same rank or consecutive cards of the same suit. Players need to have a clear strategy, from deciding whether to take a discarded card to calculating which cards to keep for easier Phỏm(Meld) formation later. Observing and remembering the discarded cards is also an essential part of the strategy in playing Phỏm.
