DAS boosts financial inclusion for African farmers using data currency.

The Digital Agricultural Suite (DAS) is a versatile digital platform designed to enhance the financial inclusion of small-scale farmers in Uganda and the broader sub-Saharan Africa region. Its primary objective is to achieve this by utilizing data as a valuable currency.
The DAS inclusiveness business Model is built on the Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) approach that ensures that last mile market solutions are designed and deployed with the rural smallholder farmer in mind, primarily to attend to systemic causes of the initial problem.
The DAS inclusivity model follows the Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) approach. This approach ensures that solutions for remote rural farmers address the root causes of the initial problem. Moreover, it benefits all partners in the value chain, including off-takers, market information providers, agricultural input suppliers, extension services, and financial institutions. This is achieved by increasing cost-efficiency, reducing transaction costs, enhancing traceability through digital transactions and data capture, and providing safety measures through the gnuGrid Credit Reference Bureau (CRB). Ultimately, DAS resolves the financial inclusion challenge by establishing a verifiable and traceable digital record across all stages of the value chain, from production to market.
