App Description
bovada - touch movement game with target color particle goals
bovada is a touch-based movement game where you control a circular collector within the playfield and aim to gather particles of the required color. At the start of each round, a clear objective appears at the top of the screen showing which color must be collected. You guide the collector toward matching particles to make contact and increase your round progress.
How a session works:
The game begins with score 0, 3 lives, and round 1. In every round, a target color is assigned, and you must collect a specific number of particles of that color to complete the round. The collector moves only within the boundaries of the field, and its position updates smoothly toward the point where you touch the screen. Movement is gradual rather than instant, providing controlled navigation instead of teleporting.
Scoring and penalties:
Each correctly collected particle awards +10 points and increases the count of gathered target particles in the current round. If you touch a particle of the wrong color, your score is reduced by a penalty that is smaller in early rounds and increases in later rounds. You also lose one life. The score does not drop below zero.
Rounds and progression:
The required number of particles increases as rounds advance. Early rounds feature steady objectives, while later rounds gradually raise the requirement up to a defined maximum. At the start of each round, particles of the target color are guaranteed to spawn. Additional particles in other colors appear to introduce distraction and increase decision complexity.
Particle disappearance and life loss:
Particles remain visible for a limited duration and may disappear automatically after a set interval. This interval typically becomes shorter as rounds progress, requiring quicker planning and response. If all target-colored particles disappear before the required amount is collected, you lose one life. After losing a life, the game may generate additional target particles to give you another opportunity to complete the round.
Controls:
Movement is handled through touch and drag within the playfield. The collector gradually approaches the touch coordinates, creating smooth motion with a slight sense of inertia. This system promotes stable control and reduces accidental contact.
Pause and restart:
The Pause button stops the main processes, including collision detection, and displays a “PAUSED” message. Resume restores the update cycles and continues the same session. Restart begins a new game by clearing the field and resetting score, lives, and round to their starting values.
End conditions:
The game ends when lives reach 0. A “GAME OVER” message appears with the final score, and the restart button changes to “PLAY AGAIN.” The highest score is stored locally on the device if the new result exceeds the previous record.
bovada emphasizes route planning rather than simple reaction. Particles often appear at a distance from the collector, requiring you to decide which direction to move first instead of automatically heading toward the nearest option.
The gradual movement system introduces a light inertia effect, meaning you must anticipate positioning, especially when particles are distributed along the edges of the field or appear in multiple areas at once.
Selecting the wrong color impacts both score and lives, making careful decisions more valuable than rapid but inaccurate movement. Precision helps preserve lives and maintain steady progress.
As rounds increase, the workload grows through higher collection targets. Even if movement speed remains consistent, the longer objectives demand sustained focus and spatial awareness.
bovada also includes a field management element. A maximum number of particles can exist on screen depending on the round, with exceptions allowed for required target particles. If the field becomes crowded, a non-target particle may be removed to maintain clarity and movement space.
