You pick the “brainrot” apps. We make the cost of opening them visible.

How it works
Pick taxed apps (Social/Video/Games by default — fully customizable)
You get a daily quota of free minutes across your taxed apps
When free minutes are gone: watch 1 rewarded ad to unlock that single app for 5 minutes
If no ad is available: wait 60 seconds to unlock instead
During the unlock window, you won’t be asked again for that app

The manifesto
This is a digital wellbeing app funded by relapse.
When you watch the ad, we get paid.
If you reduce your dependency, we make less.
If you quit, we make nothing.
Our goal is to be starved.

Privacy
No accounts. No login. Your selection and unlock timers stay on your device
Rewarded ads are served by Google AdMob
Optional anonymous analytics (opt‑in) to improve the app (e.g. onboarding skip). You can keep it off
Permissions (why we need them)
On Android, Brainrot Tax uses Accessibility Service and Usage Access to detect when a taxed app is opened and show the unlock screen. We don’t read your messages, keystrokes, or personal content.
