How to Play Dots and Boxes Games:

Step 1: To understand the rules, be aware of the game's goal. The concept of the simple game "dots and boxes" is to "possess" the most boxes at the finish of play. You and your opponent take turns drawing horizontal or vertical lines to connect the boxes. You must write your initial within the box to win it when someone draws a line that completes it.
