One of the Islamic constants is the sanctity of Jerusalem and its blessings that encompass everything around it. This sanctity is ancient, deeply rooted in the history of the Earth and humanity. Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem is the second mosque on Earth after the Kaaba. In Sahih al-Bukhari, Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, which mosque was established first on Earth?' He said, 'The Sacred Mosque.' I said, 'Then which?' He said, 'Al-Aqsa Mosque.' I said, 'How long was there between them?' He said, 'Forty years.'" God Almighty says: "Glory be to Him who took His servant for a journey by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al-Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him some of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing." (Al-Isra, verse 1) The virtues of Jerusalem are numerous. It is the land that God Almighty blessed and sanctified, and it is not mentioned in the Book of God Almighty except that it is coupled with the word blessing or holiness. God Almighty mentioned the story of Abraham, peace be upon him, when he made his first migration to Jerusalem, and God Almighty said: (And We saved him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds), and the virtue of Jerusalem was mentioned in the Prophetic Sunnah, including the Prophet’s good news of its conquest a few years before it was conquered, and it is the place that will witness the steadfastness of the people of faith in the time of strife, as the Prophet also explained in the hadith the status of Jerusalem; As it will be the capital of the Islamic Caliphate at the end of time, he said: "O Ibn Hawala, when you see the Caliphate descending upon the Holy Land, then earthquakes, calamities, and great matters will approach, and the Hour on that day will be closer to the people than this hand of mine is to your head." Author: Ibn al-Jawzi, Abu al-Faraj Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi al-Hasan Ali ibn Muhammad al-Qurashi al-Taymi al-Bakri, was a Hanbali jurist, hadith scholar, historian, and theologian (510 AH/1116 CE - 12 Ramadan 597 AH). He was born and died in Baghdad. He enjoyed widespread fame and a prominent position in oratory, preaching, and writing, and he also excelled in many sciences and arts. His lineage goes back to Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr al-Siddiq. He was known as Ibn al-Jawzi because of a walnut tree that grew in his house in the town of Wasit. There was no other walnut tree in the town, and it was also said that he was named after "Fardat al-Jawz," the port of the Basra River.
