"Guidance for the Perplexed in the Answers of the Jews and Christians" by Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya presents what he calls aspects of distortion in Christianity and Judaism, citing texts from Christian and Jewish scriptures for each of his arguments. It also responds to their criticisms of the Messenger of Islam, defending him and demonstrating his argument based on the Torah and the Gospel's prophecy about the Prophet Muhammad.
A book on religions in which the author discusses the doctrine and thought of two major religions that predate Islam. These religions were originally divine, but were subject to distortion, change, polytheism, and disbelief: Judaism and Christianity. The author responds to their innovations, misguidance, distortion, polytheism, and deviant laws, as well as other matters related to these two religions.
Author:
Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr ibn Ayyub ibn Sa'd al-Zar'i al-Dimashqi, Shams al-Din, Abu Abdullah, known as Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya. He was a prominent figure in Islamic religious reform in the eighth century AH. He was born in Damascus to Kurdish parents and studied under and was influenced by Ibn Taymiyyah al-Dimashqi, who was also of Kurdish parents. His profession was as an imam at al-Jawziyya, teaching at al-Sadriya and other places, and issuing fatwas and writing. His connection with Ibn Taymiyyah: Historians agree that the date of the meeting was in 712 AH, the year Ibn Taymiyyah returned from his travels to Damascus, where he settled until his death in 751 AH.

- One of the books that a single reading is not enough for several reasons, the most important of which are the abundance and diversity of the material presented, and the author's style, Imam Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya, which can be described as having a simple yet accessible style. Here, he discusses some of the fallacies and errors found in the books of the Jews and Christians, and their refusal to believe in the prophethood of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, despite their prior knowledge of them, as mentioned in the books they have at hand.
- I wish every Muslim would read this book so that they would feel more proud of their Islam and rid themselves of the inferiority complex that plagues many Muslims in the eyes of the world these days, to the point where Muslims are embarrassed to be referred to as "Muslims." A valuable book that combines the greatness of Islam and the compatibility of its doctrine with the requirements of sound reason, while demonstrating the inferiority of the beliefs of the People of the Book, namely the Jews and Christians, and their incompatibility with reason.

- Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyya excelled in his convincing style in comprehensively responding to many of the doubts raised by Jews and Christians. This demonstrates his vast knowledge and full awareness of the challenges facing the Islamic Ummah. He defends the truth with evidence from the Qur'an and Sunnah.

- This book made clear to me how little I know about my religion, yet at the same time, it clarified the psychology of dealing with other religions, as we live in an era that requires greater tolerance in this regard. This book made me even more convinced of the necessity of encouraging this tolerance. Rana
- Finally, I've finished reading this book. First of all, it's one of the most beneficial, enriching, and thought-provoking books I've ever read. The book begins with a response to "common" questions asked by some atheists and People of the Book to Muslims. These questions were answered with complete logic and with verses and evidence from the books of the People of the Book themselves. Specifically, the third question concerns the distortion of the prophecies of Muhammad in the Torah and the Gospel, peace and blessings be upon him. Mona El-Sherbiny
❇️ Some quotes from the book "Guidance for the Perplexed in the Answers of the Jews and Christians" by Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya ❇️
"The reasons preventing acceptance of the truth are very numerous. One of them is ignorance of it, and this reason is the most prevalent among most people. Whoever is ignorant of something becomes hostile to it and its people. If this reason is combined with hatred of the one who commanded the truth, hostility toward him, and envy, the obstacle to acceptance is even stronger. If this is combined with his familiarity, habit, and upbringing in the ways of his forefathers, and with those who love and respect him, the obstacle is even stronger. If this is combined with his imagining that the truth to which he has been called stands between him and his status, glory, desires, and purposes, the obstacle to acceptance is very strong."
― Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya, "Guidance for the Perplexed in the Answers of the Jews and Christians"
