App Description
A Timed-Writing Tool
Forget-Me-Note is a note taking app. The twist is that it helps you get your thoughts out of your head by forcing you to write. You set a minimum amount of time you wish to write for and get to it. Should you let up on writing before time is up, Forget-Me-Note will erase all the progress you've made!
While this sounds scary, the idea is that you'll be much more inclined to simply write your stream of consciousness. It's much easier to go back and refine and edit after you've already jot something down. It's getting the initial ideas written down first that's the hard part, and that's the part that Forget-Me-Note is here to help you with.
Use Forget-Me-Note to journal about your day, reflect on your inner feelings, write that first draft of the novel you've been thinking about, vent about that experience that went poorly, or simply allow yourself the time to be creative and see where your mind takes you.
Forget-Me-Note is designed to minimize disruptions and maximize converting thoughts to words. It will hide your notification icons on your screen and has a minimal design to let you write freely. After you start writing, the countdown timer will begin, and you simply need to keep going. You'll be notified once you've reached your writing time goal, at which point you're free to continue writing or start going back to make edits and clean up your thoughts.
You can also allow Forget-Me-Note to automatically manage your Do Not Disturb settings to further prevent any distractions from pulling you off your train of thought. If enabled, Do Not Disturb will be turned on while the app is on your screen and will automatically turn off should you navigate away.
Inspired by the Flowstate app for Mac and iOS, this was built to bring the experience to Android and as an exercise in asynchronous programming with Kotlin Coroutines and Flows.
