App Description

Updated search engine for DSM-5 and ICD-11 Codes for mental disorders

This App is basically a complete and updated search engine for DSM-5 and ICD-11 codes for mental disorders.

In addition to the immediate search for any word or term, the application allows you to filter the codes by categories and sort them by different criteria, which makes it a really useful and essential tool for professionals and students of disciplines related to mental health.

For each result, a card is shown with the DSM or ICD code, and its description. In addition, a series of colored labels are shown that provide greater detail.

While it can be confusing that there are two systems for diagnosing mental health disorders, it is important to remember that the DSM-5 is used primarily in the United States, and more widely in forensics, while the ICD is used internationally especially in the clinical setting.

Important: According to the APA recommendation, between the years 2015 and 2027, the DSM code that should be used is the one based on the ICD-10, which appears in parentheses in the description of each disorder, and labeled in green.

As of 2027, the coding based on ICD-11 should be used.

What is the DSM?

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) is a tool used by mental health professionals to classify and diagnose mental disorders or illnesses.

It is a classification published for the first time in 1952 by the American Psychiatric Association (APA), which is currently in its fifth edition (DSM-5), with the last revision being made in March 2022.

The DSM-5 does not apply its own classification codes. In contrast, the manual uses coding protocols based on the International Classification of Diseases (ICD), which was developed by the World Health Organization (WHO), and is currently in its eleventh edition (ICD-11).

However, the DSM currently continues to apply a clinical modification (CM) of the ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes, until the ICD-11 base is fully implemented, which is expected from the year 2027.

The latest revised version of the DSM (DSM-5TR) now only includes the codes based on ICD-10 whose use has been recommended exclusively since 2015.

The version that we present in this App is a fully updated and complete codification of all the categories included in the latest revision of the DSM, which will be updated as changes occur.

It contains 543 codes divided into categories and subcategor
