The application in the FREE version enables the following functions:
- Displaying the menu from www.jidelna.cz in the future, including allergens. For those logged in with orders, price and portion size, if the cafeteria provides this information.
- Display of the same data also from the history + collection information if the collection is recorded.
- The option to set allergies and foods with allergens will then be displayed in red.
- Display information about the canteen (contacts with the option to use them immediately - call, write an e-mail, navigate to the address, account number, operating hours, order closing time, delivery time, message for diners, etc.).
- Display information about the registered boarder (registered data, status of action, payment data including payment QR code, etc.).
- Show the filling of the consumption basket (if the canteen allows it).

In addition, the application allows you to subscribe to the Premium version for a year, in which:
- Everything is in the free version.
- Does not show ads.
- It is possible to check out, check in meals and possibly and the choice of meals.
- It is possible to add a meal to your calendar.
- There is a choice of color themes, including dark.
- It is possible to evaluate the taken meals.

ATTENTION! First of all, check that your dining room allows check-outs or orders via the Internet at all - ideally at www.jidelna.cz or during the trial period. Whether the management of the cafeteria decides to give or take this option to its diners is completely under its direction and cannot be influenced.

In 2018, we wrote the application for people with allergies, so that they could view the menu and highlight the foods that contain the allergen that they checked in the application settings that their body does not tolerate. In the evaluation, many people said that the application "can't do anything", let's add more functions, that the development costs will be covered by the advertising that we can put there...
So I extended the application (including the API) with the possibility of user logging into their account (even with a Google account) and thus with the possibility of a number of views. Billing = what was ordered/collected, account status, QR code for payment, orders for the future, consumer basket... And another wave of requests/criticism came that there is advertising, that the application is only for viewing... let's make a version without advertising and with the option of unsubscribing/subscribing, that people are happy to pay for it.
The ability to write to data is significantly more dangerous than just reading from data, so modifying the application and securing the API was more challenging, but I went for it. The price of CZK 47.90 (about half will be kept by Google) raised a wave of criticism that we want money. The number of purchases was in the order of hundreds of users...

To maintain the application (Google constantly requires some modifications due to new versions of the Android OS, security, etc.) a suitably educated person is needed. Advertising revenue (in the order of hundreds per month) will not pay for it. The number of users of such a local application is only in the order of thousands, and a large part of them are pupils and students, where advertising is strictly limited. Even the space for advertising in the application is not very large (advertisers will not pay much for a small rectangle) and we do not want to put too much of it there so that the application is not cluttered.
The economics of development and operation are inexorable, we do not want to transfer the costs to schools, where money is so little, so this model was chosen - payments from users in the order of ten crowns per year. The project has been unprofitable for 6 years, so we decided to freeze it and let it live.
We haven't updated the app since IX/23, Google started blocking payments for Premium features in December 2023. We were letting users finish their subscriptions and they were understanding about the status. But users did not, and dozens of them wrote that they wanted to keep the application. So we are making one more attempt - only with the most necessary maintenance (development will happen when we reach positive numbers). Thank you for your understanding. God and John
