The eID.li app combines the national digital identity of the Principality of Liechtenstein eID.li with digital personal proof, e.g. the driving licence. The eID.li fulfils the highest security requirements, is easy to use and has been notified in accordance with the eIDAS Regulation of the EU, i.e. it can be used to login to electronic services in EEA/EU member states. To login, the eID.li app generates a secret code that is only valid for a short time and must be entered in a web form. This is followed by a confirmation in the eID.li app, which must be authorised by the user who is then legally identified and logged in. Authorisation can be given either by password or biometrically (fingerprint, facial recognition) if the mobile device supports the corresponding security function.
 
The eID.li is available for both Liechtenstein citizens and foreigners. In order to use the eID.li app, a one-off personal identification and registration of the eID.li app is required at the Migration and Passport Office in Vaduz, either in-person or by means of video identification. After registration, the user and their eID.li app are logically inseparable. The eID.li and the digital proofs can be transferred to another mobile device using a special function of the eID.li app.
