Born on June 15, 1971 from the merger of two newspapers, L'Orient (founded in Beirut in 1925) and Le Jour (founded in Beirut in 1934), L'Orient-Le Jour is the only Lebanese daily in French. He opened his columns to the most prestigious thinkers, columnists, writers and journalists of modern Lebanon. Flag of the Francophonie, its main mission is to be the relay of independent and quality information for all French speakers having a link with Lebanon and the Middle East. Élie Fayad and Émilie Sueur are the editors.
Since its creation, Orient-Le Jour has defended the same democratic values, pluralism, openness to others and dialogue between cultures and religions. It describes the issues and problems of Lebanese and regional news.
