At first, Kangen Band was an indie band in Lampung, they themselves had produced several of their songs indie and distributed them themselves to pirated cassette sellers, to public transportation drivers, and to the radio. Until, in 2006 they were sought out by producers and received offers, moved to Jakarta and entered into a record label.
