Tachiwin is the first AI application for identifying, translating, and understanding the native languages of Mexico. This preliminary version of Tachiwin is capable of identifying 50 native languages of Mexico and translating from Totonac to Spanish/English and vice versa.
Tachiwin is a free, open-source project developed by indigenous communities in Mexico that aims to be the first AI that can identify, translate, and converse in all 68 native languages of Mexico and all their variants. This project will help bridge the technological gap with communities that speak native languages and contribute to the appreciation and promotion of these languages. This is a Mexican non-profit project governed by the ethical principles of collaboration, non-extractiveness, shared knowledge, and technological sovereignty. It operates on the basis of collaborations and donations.
