New Testament Books in Baiga Language

The Baiga tribe mainly inhabits in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The population of
the Baiga tribe is 4,14,526 in Madhya Pradesh and 89,744 in Chhattisgarh. The major population of
the Baiga tribe is found in Shahdol, Umaria, Singrauli, Mandla, Dindori, Anuppur, Sidhi, Balaghat,
Kabir Dham, Bilaspur and Koriya districts of both the states. These people are basically dependent on
forest for their economy and food.
Baiga language belongs to Indo Aryan family. This language has close similarities with Chhattisgarhi
language but still has differences in culture and other aspects. Baiga people use this language in
among themselves.
The translation of the Bible into Baiga language has been done by a team of experts. The team took
the help of native speakers. The language used has been tested in villages for intelligence. The texts
of this Bible have gone through a series of tests and the focus of this translation is for naturalness,
accuracy and clarity. The translation is approved by a translation committee consisting of native
language-speaking clergy, teachers, and lay men.
We dedicate this translation to the Baiga community for the extension of the Kingdom of God
among this people group. We pray that people will be transformed into the image of Christ as they
read and understand Scripture. We want the body of Christ in the Baiga community to be prepared
for the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
