Free app data downloads are now live on AppGoblin
AppGoblin now offers free mobile app dataset downloads at Free App Datasets. Anyone with a free AppGoblin account can browse the available exports and download them directly.
The goal is straightforward: make useful mobile app market data easier to access for people doing real research and analysis work.
Right now the free downloads include:
- App Metrics: 5 million rows of app's and their performance metrics across Google Play and the Apple App Store.
- App Descriptions: English language app store descriptions that are useful for NLP, text analysis, category research, and keyword studies.
These files are published as compressed TSV exports, which makes them practical to load into Python, R, DuckDB, ClickHouse, Postgres, pandas, Polars, or other analysis workflows.
Why free mobile app data is useful for researchers
Researchers often need broad, structured datasets before they can even test an idea. Collecting that data yourself can take more time than the actual analysis.
Free app datasets help researchers move faster because they can:
- analyze app market structure across categories, business models, and stores
- study pricing, ratings, install ranges, and release timing at scale
- build reproducible datasets for academic work or internal research projects
- run NLP and topic modeling on app store descriptions without starting from raw scraping
- compare Android and iOS app ecosystems using a common export format
That is especially useful for teams studying mobile competition, consumer software trends, ad-supported apps, subscription markets, or the evolution of app store language over time.
