Schnur Weight is used as a reference by plastic surgeons performing breast reduction surgery and is often utilized by insurance companies in the U.S. to determine if the amount of breast tissue removed from each breast is "medically necessary." Consult the medical insurance company to see if they use Schnur tables, as not all of them do. In many cases, by knowing this value, patients and surgeons can discuss breast reduction surgery with more information and less guess work.
