App Description

The PleurX app is for patients and caregivers to manage their at-home drainage. The PleurX app is used on a smartphone or tablet. There is no connection between patients and clinicians directly through the app and it does not link to any hospital system or electronic health records. The users can access and download their drainage records. The PleurX app contains the Drainage Procedure IFU (Instructions for Use), supplemental wall chart drainage instructions, FAQ brochure, pamphlet on how to order more supplies and digital drainage log. In addition, the app provides links to instructional videos from the PleurX website, the contact number to PleurX Patient Navigators.. The app has optional fields for users to record pain levels, input drainage details and upload photos of the catheter site or drained fluid. Users can set a drainage schedule with reminders and pleural patients are notified to contact their physician when they have drained 50 mL or less 3 times per the IFU.
