App Description

Truco Paulista is a card game of Arabic origin that is very popular in Brazil (Truco Paulista / Truco Mineiro), in eastern Spain (Truco), and in much of South America (Truco Argentinian).

Truco Paulista and Truco Mineiro are played in pairs, although two-player options are also available. Only 40 cards from the English deck are used (eights, nines, tens, and jokers are set aside).

The objective of the game is to score 12 points through bets (trucos) placed over the course of different rounds.

How to Play Truco Paulista

At the beginning of each round, each player is dealt 3 cards, and one card is turned over. This card determines the "manilla," which will be the next card in the order described above.

For example, if the card is a "6," the manilla would be a "7"; or if it is a "3," the manilla would be a "4."

Each player takes turns playing a card. The player with the highest card wins that hand and goes first in the next (in the case of a tie, the previous player will repeat).

The first player or pair to get 2 hands wins the round. If the three hands in a row are tied, no one scores any points.

Truco is a bet that can be made at any time during the game and is collected by the winner of the round.

The opposing player or pair must respond with one of the following options:

"I don't want." Rejects the truco and the opposing pair wins the round.
"I want." Accepts the bet, which will be resolved at the end of the round.
Truco 6/9/12. Raise the bet and pass it to the opposing player or pair to decide.
