Karbi Tea is a Tea Processing App

The application - Karbi Tea - developed by Grassroots Tea Corporation Private Limited (GTC), is designed to benefit Rural Women Entrepreneurs (RWEs)from Karbi Anglong, Assam, engaged in processing chemical-free, high-quality handcrafted green tea.

GTC partners with the American India Foundation Trust (AIF) to revolutionize the tea value chain in Assam. As the coordinating partner and the Secretariat for the Udyamini – Rural Women Entrepreneurship Program, AIF Trust, with GTC's technical support, is working to empower 1,000 RWEs in the district. Together, they are helping these small tea growers of the region, process and market exquisite, handcrafted tea, transforming lives and brewing a brighter future.

Karbi Cha - the newly developed application, will enable RWEs from tea grower communities, to maintain their processing records and easily monitor their expense and income flows. Additionally, the application ensures complete traceability.

RWEs will have to follow the steps like: -

Grassroots Tea Corporation Private Limited, incorporated on 12 January 2017, is classified as Non-government company and is registered at Registrar of Companies, Delhi.

Completing the loop of tea value chain cycle, GTC (i) empowers small tea growers (STGs) to cultivate chemical free tea; (ii) leads STGs to raise equity to set up tea processing units to manufacture high quality, certified orthodox tea / green tea and (iii) markets ethical tea under the brand name ‘equifarmtea’.

GTC’s teas are infused with our values of fairness and steeped in our principles of transparency and empowerment - our farmer communities have a direct say in improving product quality and influencing social outcomes.
