If you recall a phrase after a longer delay than expected, the next interval increases. If you hesitate or answer incorrectly, the interval shortens without resetting your progress. This keeps practice efficient and focused on what you still need.

Two learning modes support different learning preferences. Multiple Choice enables quick practice with immediate feedback and helps build early recognition. Self-Assessment strengthens active recall: you try to retrieve the phrase yourself first and then rate whether you knew it, almost knew it or did not know it. This approach improves real-world recall when you actually need the phrase.

Content is organized into travel-focused sets such as greetings and basics, politeness, restaurants and ordering, directions and transport, shopping, hotel and check-in, emergencies and common questions. Each card shows the Japanese phrase and its meaning, and where helpful includes an easy-to-read pronunciation to support speaking.

You can enable or disable sets freely and choose question directions such as Japanese → Meaning or Meaning → Japanese. This lets you focus on recognition or production depending on your goal and time before the trip.

Each set includes a test in which all items appear once. Based on your result, you earn a silver or gold medal, making progress easy to track.
