NIROWA

The Narmada Integrated Reservoir Operation and Water Accounting Model (NIROWA) was developed by the Narmada Control Authority under the National Hydrology Project to optimize the operation and management of reservoirs and hydroelectric dams using advanced tools and technologies. The model ensures compliance with the Narmada Water Disputes Tribunal by optimizing the operation of 13 reservoirs to manage drinking, irrigation, industrial, environmental flows, and hydropower demands across Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan.
The system provides real-time data on Reservoir levels and outflow data to ensure efficient resource management and flood risk reduction. The system, operational for the past three years, supports collaborative decision-making among stakeholders from the four states, enhancing water resource management across the Narmada Basin.
