App Description

The Daily Quote website started as an idea to harness some of the most inspirational quotations known and then turn them into a challenging, thought-provoking game. To add to the fun, we often use quotes that parallel world events and celebrations.

Our Daily Quote Game can be described as a combination of Wheel of Fortune and Wordle. We scour the world wide web, review different types of books, read speeches, and scroll through social media to bring inspiring, thought provoking, humorous quotes for this game.

The app version will offer the same daily version as the web site but will allow for more options, such as statistics and streaks.

You have a maximum of 10 characters (letters, spaces and punctuation) to choose before you must figure out the quotation.

Each day, the characters of the quote will appear as empty boxes. Start by choosing a letter, press ‘Enter’ and see it revealed in every instance that it is in the quote. You have a maximum of 10 letters to guess the quote.

Pressing the ‘Theme’ button at any time will give you a one or two word hint indicating what the quotation is about. Themes include education, politics, humour, life lessons, perspective, love, compassion, resilience, willpower, strength plus many more.

Once you have figured out the quote or run out of letters, pressing the ‘Guess‘ button puts you into ‘Solve’ mode. The empty boxes turn blue and are ready for you to enter the letters in sequential order. The active box is highlighted, and once you choose a letter the active box will jump to the next empty box, in order. You can press any blue box to jump to that word, if you want to solve out of order. Once all the boxes are populated, press ‘Solve’ to reveal the quotation, author and context.

The web site, dailyquote.ca has been up and running since May 2022. So far, we have curated over 900 quotes from 500 different authors such as Abraham Lincoln, Friedrich Nietzsche, George Orwell, Helen Keller, Mark Twain, Oscar Wilde, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Albert Einstein, Bertrand Russell, Margaret Atwood, Martin Luther King Jr. and Pablo Picasso. At the end of the game, we tell you a little about the author and in what context the quotation was made.

There are 3 game modes. ‘Hard’ takes away the ability to see the spaces between the words in Guess mode. ‘Regular’ lets you choose the ‘Show Spaces Between Wo
