App Description
Cuespeak Clinician is the professional version of Cuespeak, the widely acclaimed rehabilitation tool for people with speech, language and cognitive difficulties after stroke or brain injury.
Produced in the UK, Cuespeak Clinician contains over 10,000 images, 5,000 videos showing target words being spoken and broken down into syllables and sounds, and more than 30,000 spoken prompts. Automated speech recognition gives instant feedback on spoken responses.
Cuespeak Clinician links seamlessly with Cuespeak, the version designed for independent practice by people in their own home and recommended by the NHS for therapy for aphasia and apraxia of speech.
Exercises from any of the fifteen therapy modules can be highly customised to individual needs and combined into complete bespoke therapy programmes that run automatically at the press of a single button. This enables even people with significant cognitive problems to carry out prolonged, intensive, independent practice to supplement their face-to-face therapy programmes.
Cuespeak Clinician allows you to manage users of Cuespeak remotely from your clinic: you can create and send sessions and updates via the internet, and receive usage data and results automatically at intervals to suit you.
Cuespeak moves beyond traditional 'picture naming' approaches towards a more dynamic 'question and facilitated answer' format which seeks better to emulate the processing demands of conversation. The spoken prompts include questions, spoken feedback on errors and cues designed to elicit spoken production of target words and phrases. New content is added weekly, including up-to-date questions on current affairs.
An advanced settings menu allows you to tailor exercises for very specific linguistic needs. Target words can be selected according to number of phonemes (sounds), number of letters, number of syllables, first and last sounds, grammatical word class and thematic role.
Exercises cover:
- Spoken word retrieval and production, with automated speech recognition
- Practising names of family, friends and significant places, with video support
- Sentence construction and production
- Understanding spoken language
- Practising personally relevant scripts
- Conversation starters
- Asking questions
- Semantic associations
- Phonology
- Articulation
- Writing
- Reading
