AUTOMATIC TRACKING WITH APPLE WATCH
If you wear an Apple Watch (Series 6 or later), SunshinePal uses the built-in ambient light sensor to detect daylight exposure in the background. You don't press start or stop. The watch quietly measures your time in natural light and syncs it through HealthKit.
Manual tracking doesn't work — if you have to remember to open an app every time you step outside, you'll forget in three days. SunshinePal removes that friction entirely.
VITAMIN D ESTIMATION
Based on current UV index, your skin type (Fitzpatrick scale), and outdoor time, SunshinePal estimates how much vitamin D your body is producing. Not a blood test replacement — a daily awareness tool connecting outdoor time to vitamin D levels. On cloudy days or in winter, it helps you understand when supplementation might make sense.
SAFE SUN TIMER
SunshinePal calculates a personalized safe exposure window based on UV index and skin type — how long you can stay in the sun before risking a burn. Especially useful for fair-skinned people, parents managing kids' outdoor time, or anyone in high-UV regions like Australia or tropical climates.
DAILY GOALS AND SCORING
Set a personal daily sunlight target — anywhere from 15 minutes to several hours. SunshinePal gives you a score from 0 to 100 based on how close you get. Over time, you build streaks and unlock achievements through Game Center.
