App Description
Hi, I'm Peter, an indie developer in Portland, Oregon. I built Busybody because I wanted a widget that shows me a website at a glance without opening Safari.
Busybody captures screenshots of any URL and displays them in a widget on your home screen. It reloads the page every 10 minutes or so while you're using the device. Configure the zoom and crop to frame exactly what you want to see.
WHY IT EXISTS
Some websites are worth checking repeatedly but not worth the friction of opening a browser. Government sites with no apps. Forums or niche news sites. Status or "down" pages. I wanted to glance at my home screen and see current information from any site, not just apps with their own widgets.
HOW IT WORKS
Add a URL in the app. Adjust the zoom and viewport to frame exactly what matters. Add a widget to your home screen. Tap the widget anytime to jump straight to that site in the app.
The app allows you to scrub through previous screenshots.
NO BACKEND
Everything runs on your device. Your URLs and screenshots stay on your phone. There are no accounts, no servers, and no subscriptions.
I called it Busybody because the name suggests a nosy neighbor who keeps tabs on everything. That is exactly what this app does.
