App Description

One Step Challenges is a fitness competition app built for friends and family who want to compete fairly across different fitness levels. Like a handicap in golf, each user gets a personal multiplier based on their own fitness — so a beginner and a seasoned athlete can go head-to-head on equal terms. Points are weighted by individual capability, not raw output. Effort wins, not genetics.

Your handicap isn't a guess. The app calibrates it over 7 days by reading your real wearable data — resting heart rate, VO2 max, daily steps, active minutes, and time in elevated heart-rate zones — then recalibrates monthly as your fitness changes.

No one to compete with yet? Race a bot. Three opponents, each with a different training style, each with a week you can beat. Pick the one that sounds like you and go — Brian walks, Doug trains most days, Amanda never misses.

Or race your Shadow — the you from your own last four weeks. Same routines, same pace, built from your real history. Beat your typical week and you win; win, and your Shadow gets stronger, so the bar rises every time you do. It's the one opponent always exactly your speed.

Daily activity is tracked automatically through Apple Health: workouts with heart-rate zone analysis, steps, exercise minutes, and active calories. Log on-plan nutrition with a single tap — no calorie counting. Build daily streaks for consistency. Leaderboards show standings across everyone in a challenge, and you'll know when someone joins, cheers you on, or a challenge wraps up.

Key features:
- Handicap-fair scoring that levels the field across fitness levels
- 7-day calibration from real wearable data, recalibrated monthly
- Heart-rate zone analysis on every workout
- Steps, active minutes, active calories, and resting HR tracking
- One-tap nutrition logging — no calorie counting
- Daily streaks for consistency
- Multi-user challenges with shared invite codes
- Leaderboard and today feed
- Reactions to cheer on the people you're competing with, with notifications when they land
- End-of-challenge recaps so every finish gets its moment
- Built for honest measurement, not gamification tricks

Works with Apple Watch, Garmin, Whoop, Oura, Fitbit, or any device that writes to Apple Health. Steps and nutrition work without a wearable.
