App Description
Were you turned down for housing because of who you are?
A landlord who suddenly says the unit is gone. A leasing agent who steers you to a different building. A lender who treats your application differently. A property manager who ignores a reasonable-accommodation request. In the moment it is hard to know what matters - and weeks later the details blur. If you decide to bring it to HUD, a state fair-housing agency, or a fair-housing attorney, the record you kept while it was fresh is what speaks for you.
Abidence is a private, contemporaneous evidence diary for housing discrimination. You log each incident as it happens - the date and time, who was involved, what they said and did, their exact words, the written materials they pointed to, and any witnesses. The record is structured, timestamped, and yours.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
- Record each incident in a case: date/time, the party (landlord, agent, lender, property manager, seller), what happened, their verbatim words, written materials they referenced, and witnesses.
- Optionally tag which protected class you believe was involved - race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, or disability. The tags are optional. You can leave them all blank.
- Read a plain reference to the federal Fair Housing Act and your state's fair-housing law, including reasonable-accommodation and modification rules.
- Watch the countdown to the HUD one-year and DOJ two-year filing windows from your first incident date.
YOUR PRIVACY
Your records live on this iPhone, in your hands. The app has no account, no sign-in, and no servers, and connects to no housing provider, agency, or third party. Suggestions and references come from a rule-based engine drawn from public U.S. fair-housing law. You decide if and when anything leaves the app, by exporting a PDF you choose to share.
