App Description

Chapbook is a storybook library you actually own — two hundred fifty-one nursery rhymes, fairy tales, fables, myths, and storybook classics, gathered from the public domain and set in a clear, modern reading text. Where its companion app Hausmärchen keeps the Brothers Grimm, Chapbook keeps everything around them: Andersen and Perrault, Mother Goose and the old sea ballads, Persephone and Baba Yaga, Poe's raven and the Wind in the Willows.

A LIBRARY, CAREFULLY KEPT
• 251 tales across six shelves — Nursery Rhymes, Fairy Tales, Fables, Myth & Legend, Literary Classics, and a kid-safe Junior shelf
• 774 illustrations by 23 artists — Jessica von Braun's original paintings and Jasmine Becket-Griffith's fairy art at the heart, beside the golden-age masters: Rackham, Dulac, Nielsen, Parrish, Doré, Crane, Bilibin, and more
• Every plate is bundled in the app — nothing is streamed or fetched

CHOOSE YOUR ILLUSTRATOR
Many tales carry plates by several artists. Open a tale and switch illustrators on the fly — or tap Surprise Me. Browse the whole gallery by artist, each with a short biography.

TWO EDITIONS, AND A MODE FOR LITTLE ONES
Every tale comes in a clear Modern text and a gentler Junior edition for ages four to twelve. A parent-locked Children's Mode narrows the entire app to the curated Junior shelf — no settings, no links, nothing to stumble into — when you hand a child the device.

QUIET BY DESIGN
No accounts. No ads. No analytics, telemetry, or tracking of any kind. No notifications, and no runtime network calls at all — the whole library lives on your device and opens offline, on a plane or deep in the woods.

YOURS, ONCE AND FOR ALL
About half the library is free to read. A single one-time purchase — never a subscription — opens every tale, the complete illustrator gallery with biographies, and the full parent-locked Junior library. Buy the book, and the book is yours.
