App Description
The phone shows a card and starts a one-minute timer. That’s it. The actual game happens at the table.
CopyCats is a party game for three or more people. Everyone gets the same prompt and writes six answers at the same time. Then you read them aloud and see who was thinking the same thing.
Sometimes matching is exactly what you want. Sometimes it’s the worst thing you can do.
HOW TO PLAY
A game has three one-minute rounds:
• THE HERD
Try to write what everyone else is likely to write.
Score 1 point for every answer that matches another player’s.
• LONE WOLVES
Do the opposite.
You score only for answers nobody else wrote.
• LIGHTNING
Six prompts, one answer for each, all in a single minute.
After every round, read your answers aloud and let the host enter the scores. Everyone plays at once, including the host, so there’s no waiting around for your turn.
YOU MAKE THE CALLS
CopyCats doesn’t judge answers. It isn’t a quiz, and there’s no database deciding whether two words mean the same thing.
Before you play, choose how strict you want to be:
• Loose: “bake” can match “baking”
• Normal: “couch” can match “sofa”
• Strict: answers must match word for word
Can’t agree? Vote on it. Majority wins.
Your answers never go into the app. CopyCats can’t see, save or send them. They stay on your paper until you read them to the table.
WHAT’S FREE
The Icebreakers pack includes more than 100 prompts and is free forever. This isn’t a timed trial, and there are no ads.
A subscription unlocks ten more packs, bringing the total to more than 1,000 prompts. It also removes the limit on how often you can swap a prompt you don’t feel like playing.
