App Description
beRegExProfi helps developers and IT professionals build, test, and above all understand regular expressions (regex). Unlike plain debugging tools that only show whether something matched, beRegExProfi explains every part of a pattern in plain language.
PATTERNS EXPLAINED IN PLAIN LANGUAGE
Every building block of a pattern ā character class, group, quantifier, anchor ā is explained individually in clear language, not just shown as a match or non-match.
LIVE MATCHES AND CAPTURE GROUPS
Matches in the test text are highlighted instantly on every keystroke, with navigation to the next/previous match. The contents of individual capture groups are listed separately.
PITFALLS AND BACKTRACKING WARNING
The app proactively flags known pitfalls (e.g. greedy vs. lazy quantifiers, unescaped special characters) ā and additionally warns about patterns prone to catastrophic (exponential) backtracking, before they become a real-world problem.
SEARCH & REPLACE WITH LIVE PREVIEW
Enter a replacement pattern including group references ($1, ${name}) and see the result instantly as a preview, without confirming the input.
UNDERSTANDABLE ERROR MESSAGES
An invalid pattern gets a concrete, understandable hint instead of a raw, technical system message.
BUILT FOR IPAD AND MAC
Large controls, thoughtful keyboard shortcuts for macOS/iPadOS with a hardware keyboard (including a built-in overview), and full VoiceOver support.
NO CLUTTER
⢠No accounts, no cloud, no ads
⢠No internet connection required ā all patterns and test texts stay on the device only
⢠Processing exclusively via Swift's own regex dialect
MULTILINGUAL
Fully usable in German, English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese ā switchable right in Settings, independent of the system language.
beRegExProfi is designed for iPad and Mac.
