BaseMate

BaseMate makes levelling rectangular bases, platforms and work surfaces easier by telling you how much each corner needs to be adjusted.

A conventional spirit level can tell you that a surface isn't level. BaseMate helps tell you what to do about it.

Place your iPhone or iPad centrally near the edge of the surface, enter its width and depth, and BaseMate uses the device's motion sensors to calculate the adjustment required at each corner.

Raise, Lower or Choose your reference

Choose the approach that suits the job:

• RAISE — BaseMate uses the highest corner as the reference and calculates how much the other corners need to be raised. Ideal when using shims, packers, adjustable feet or supporting material.

• LOWER — BaseMate uses the lowest corner as the reference and calculates how much the other corners need to be lowered. Useful when lowering adjustable supports or determining how much material needs to be removed.

• CHOOSE ANY CORNER — If one corner is fixed or cannot be moved, simply select it as the reference. BaseMate recalculates every other corner around that point, showing positive values for corners that need raising and negative values for those that need lowering.

The base itself becomes the display. Each corner is shaded according to the correction required:

• Red — too low
• Blue — too high
• Green — level within tolerance

The strength of the colour indicates the degree of correction required, while calculated measurements show approximately how much each corner needs to move.

Optional spoken guidance lets you concentrate on making adjustments without continually watching the screen.
