App Description
EPTS Calculator — Kidney Transplant Survival Scoring
Quickly calculate the Estimated Post-Transplant Survival (EPTS) score used in the U.S. kidney allocation system. Designed for transplant surgeons, nephrologists, coordinators, and researchers who need accurate, on-the-go EPTS percentile scoring.
WHAT IT DOES
The EPTS score estimates a kidney transplant candidate's expected post-transplant longevity using four OPTN-defined factors: patient age, diabetes status, prior solid organ transplants, and time on dialysis. Candidates scoring in the top 20% receive priority for the highest-longevity donor kidneys (KDPI ≤20%).
KEY FEATURES
• Instant EPTS Calculation — Adjust sliders and toggles, see your raw score and percentile update in real time with an animated gauge display
• KDPI ≤20% Eligibility Badge — Immediately see whether a candidate qualifies for longevity-matched kidney priority
• What-If Scenario Comparison — Model two sets of parameters side by side to counsel patients on how factors like starting dialysis or a diabetes diagnosis impact their score
• OPTN Formula Reference — Built-in info sheet with the complete EPTS formula, coefficient explanations, allocation policy summary, and source citations
• Clinician-Friendly Design — Clean, modern interface with haptic feedback, dark mode support, and frosted glass aesthetics designed for fast clinical workflows
FORMULA & DATA
The raw EPTS formula follows OPTN Policy 8.4.B with coefficients verified through 2025. The percentile mapping table is clearly labeled with its source year so you always know the data provenance.
