App Description
App for daily behavior rating in the context of single-case studies.
**DBR Rater** is the mobile companion app to the research platform behavior-rating.app and is designed for individuals who conduct behavioral ratings as part of scientific studies. While researchers centrally plan their single-case studies via the platform, the app enables users to record ratings quickly, systematically, and independently of location in everyday settings. At its core is the method of Direct Behavior Rating (DBR), an evidence-based approach for the systematic assessment of behavior. Observers repeatedly and promptly rate predefined target behaviors on a scale, generating valid longitudinal data—without the need for paper forms or external spreadsheets.
The app is intentionally designed for ease of use: after scanning a QR code from an invitation, users are immediately logged in and can view all current daily tasks at a glance. Ratings are completed באמצעות intuitive sliders, optionally supplemented with brief notes, and can be finished within seconds—even during short time windows, such as between lessons. The app consolidates all relevant information in a clear interface and displays only the cases assigned to the respective user.
Functionally, DBR Rater offers a structure strictly focused on the data collection process. Tasks are automatically transferred from the study plan and presented at the appropriate time. Push notifications reliably remind users of upcoming or overdue ratings, with adjustable intensity levels and customizable settings. The app remains functional even with unstable internet connections: all inputs are stored locally and automatically synchronized once connectivity is restored. In addition, users can participate in multiple studies simultaneously and switch seamlessly between them.
The app is particularly aimed at teachers, therapeutic professionals, and educational or research staff who regularly document behavioral observations within intervention or single-case study contexts. It is deliberately conceived as part of a larger system: study planning—including case creation, definition of target behaviors, observer invitations, data analysis, and export—is handled via the central platform behavior-rating.app, while DBR Rater supports the operational side of data collection in daily practice.
A strong emphasis is also placed on data protection. All data are transmitted in encrypted form and processed in compliance with GDPR. Users only have access to their assigned cases and their own ratings, while login credentials are securely stored on the respective device.
