The Koran is the holy book in Islam which is considered a revelation from Allah SWT. Understanding and interpreting the Koran is an important effort in increasing understanding of the Islamic religion and God's guidance to humans. The rules of interpretation are the principles or guidelines used by scholars in explaining and understanding the Qur'an. These rules help them decipher the meaning of the verses of the Qur'an and interpret them correctly. In this context, it is important to understand the requirements necessary to become a competent interpreter. These requirements include an in-depth understanding of Arabic language, grammar, word change, morphology and a number of other sciences. Apart from that, a mufassir must also have an understanding of the sciences of the Koran such as the science of asbab al-nuzul, the science of al-qashash, and the science of al-nasikh and al-mansukh.
