App Description
Verifiers can request and verify digital credentials from a digital wallet.
GC (Government of Canada) Verify is a secure mobile application designed for requesting and verifying digital credentials from a digital wallet, to quickly and easily get the information and proof needed to access a service (e.g., proof of eligibility, qualifications or authorization).
Digital credentials are electronic equivalents of traditional physical credentials and enable the secure digital verification of information online or in person via a digital wallet.
While GC Verify is available in this app store, it currently supports only a limited set of digital credentials as part of Government of Canada approved pilot tests.
GC Verify is intended strictly for use by authorized pilot participants. It should not be used beyond the scope of approved pilot tests.
Important Notes
The GC Verify app is currently under active development and subject to change as we test features, improve functionality, and gather feedback.
It is being tested as part of GC Issue and Verify, a Government of Canada initiative to make it easier to issue, store, present and verify digital versions of existing physical credentials (such as licenses or certificates).
GC Verify is not part of a national digital identity initiative. There is no work underway by the Government of Canada to create a national digital identity. Instead, the GC Verify app provides a secure, voluntary way to request and verify digital credentials from a digital wallet, to get the information and proof needed to access a service (e.g., proof of eligibility, qualifications or authorization). Use of digital credentials remains completely voluntary.
