Greenland is a huge island and an autonomous Danish territory between the North Atlantic
and the Arctic Ocean. Much of its land surface is covered in ice. The small population mostly
lives along the ice-free, fjord-lined coast, especially in the southwest. Its northern location,
largely above the Arctic Circle, produces natural phenomena such as the midnight sun in
summer and the northern lights in winter.
