This Android application is a Student Book and English Teacher's Guidebook: Work in Progress for SMA / SMK Class X Independent Curriculum.

The pandemic has significantly changed almost all aspects of life, including education in general and teaching English in particular. Classes have disruptively been made to move from school rooms to virtual spaces within apps such as Zoom and Google Meet. The disruptive shift in the learning space has brought with it the demand to adapt what we teach and how to teach it.

In addition to facing the challenges caused by the pandemic, English education and teaching has also been faced with the challenge of equipping students with the knowledge and ability to access, use and interpret texts that use different modes to convey messages. This ability, multimodal literacy, is the literacy that is believed to be the important feature of this century. Multimodal literacy is the literacy our students need to be exposed to and master to participate and contribute to their surroundings.

Responding to this challenge, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, designed and implemented the Merdeka Curriculum. Part of implementing the curriculum is the provision of learning resources in the form of textbooks that support the achievement of curriculum goals through teaching materials and learning activities that are not only interesting and fun but also equip students with the knowledge and abilities needed today.

This English textbook has been designed to help you learn the English you need at present. The materials have been designed to facilitate you to be able to learn, use and produce multimodal texts in both written and spoken form. The preparation and selection of the materials have been based on the learning objectives set in accordance with the Curriculum.

We hope you will find this book functional and helpful for you to be able to appropriately use English to achieve your communicative goals.
