How AuntyBea keeps children safe online

AuntyBea uses Android's AccessibilityService API to read on-screen text content from the apps your child uses — for the sole purpose of detecting harmful material such as grooming attempts, cyberbullying, sexual content, and self-harm content, so we can alert parents.

Specifically, AuntyBea's AccessibilityService:

- Reads on-screen text content across apps on the child's device
- Collects device identifiers (such as Android device ID) to associate alerts with the correct child's device in the parent's account
- Processes the text locally on-device wherever possible; only content flagged as potentially harmful is sent to our servers for AI analysis
- Never transmits, shares, or stores your child's private messages — parents receive an AI-generated summary of the risk, never the raw content

This use is disclosed in-app before activation. Parents must explicitly accept our prominent disclosure dialog (with both "Allow" and "Don't allow" options) before AccessibilityService is enabled. Consent can be withdrawn at any time by disabling AuntyBea in the device's Accessibility settings.

AuntyBea uses AccessibilityService because it is the only Android API that can observe on-screen content across third-party apps (such as Roblox, Discord, Snapchat, and browsers). More narrowly-scoped APIs cannot provide the cross-app child safety coverage that is the core purpose of this app.

AuntyBea is a parental-control app for families. It is not designated as an accessibility tool (IsAccessibilityTool is not set), as its primary function is child safety rather than supporting users with disabilities.
