LIFESPACE tracks daily activity to spot early warning signs of Alzheimer’s risk.

The LIFESPACE app is a research data collection app for participants enrolled in the LIFESPACE study, a study conducted by Washington University in St. Louis.

RESEARCH PURPOSE:
The study is following a group of healthy older adults without clinical impairment to see whether their everyday behaviors can provide very early warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers will use this application to track where participants go in their communities and how active and socially engaged they are. By combining these “digital tracers” of daily life with health and environmental data, the team hopes to identify patterns that signal a higher risk of dementia long before noticeable memory problems emerge. In the long run, this could make it easier and cheaper to detect who is at risk and intervene earlier to help protect brain health.

Once you provide consent, a foreground service will begin collecting motion sensor data. You will see a persistent notification whenever this is active. While you can start or stop data collection at any time, please note that frequent interruptions may reduce the accuracy and validity of the study results.
