All these could change the course of a life and lead it to destruction. On the other hand, the right word may direct someone out of sin and into salvation. How we need the Lord to control our tongue.

As a young boy, I knew this principle well. Whenever I said a bad word, my mom would bring me over to the sink and put a bar of soap in my mouth. That's something I won't forget anytime soon.
The Bible teaches that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Our words can direct others toward the right path or lead them astray. Idle words, questionable stories, half-truths, or deliberate lies can change the course of someone’s life, often with disastrous consequences.
