App Description
No-root app firewall: block/allow internet per app. No ads. Made in Germany.
Firewall No Root is a no‑root firewall for Android (mobile firewall) that gives you control over which apps may go online. Decide per app: allow, block, or restrict connections to reduce background traffic and improve everyday privacy — with no ads.
What you can do
• Allow or block internet access per app (no root required)
• Control Wi‑Fi and mobile/cellular data separately
• Limit background connections to save mobile/cellular data and help extend battery life
• Optional notifications when an app tries to connect for the first time
• Keep kids’ games or learning apps offline when they do not need internet access
• See which apps are online more often than expected and adjust permissions
• Option to view system apps separately and fine‑tune their access
• Advanced: custom rules for IP addresses, host names and domains
• Advanced: regularly updated filter/host lists and an optional DNS changer
Filter lists can help you limit known tracking domains without manually maintaining every address. The DNS changer lets you switch to alternative DNS providers (often more privacy‑friendly) and quickly return to your default DNS if something does not work as expected.
Common scenarios:
• “Only online on Wi‑Fi”: allow an app on Wi‑Fi, but block it on mobile/cellular data while traveling
• “Offline by default”: keep shopping, games or rarely used apps offline unless you need them
• “Less background noise”: reduce constant connections that happen when apps run in the background
• “Family control”: decide which apps for children can access the internet on this device
• “Privacy habits”: combine per‑app control with optional filter lists for fewer unwanted connections
This is an app firewall for users who want clarity and control over internet permissions: casual users, parents, privacy enthusiasts and power users.
How it works (local filtering)
Firewall No Root uses Android’s official VpnService API to filter network traffic locally on your device. The app creates a local connection to itself, routes traffic through the firewall and then decides whether to allow or block it. Your traffic is not tunnelled to a remote VPN server and is not forwarded to third‑party servers.
• No root access required
• No additional account needed
• One app can act as a device‑wide firewall for Android
Because VpnService is used, Android may show a “VPN” indicator while the firewall is active. This is expected and required for local traffic filtering.
Privacy & data safety
Developed in Germany with a strong focus on privacy and transparency. In the Google Play “Data safety” section, the developer declares:
• No user data is collected for analytics or advertising
• No data is sold or shared with third parties
• Connections to our infrastructure (e.g., to update filter/host lists) are encrypted in transit
The app does not create activity logs intended to profile your browsing habits.
We keep the product simple: no ads, no noisy marketing pop‑ups, and no “scare” messages. You decide what should be online and what should stay offline.
Free, no ads & notes
Core firewall features are available free of charge and without any advertising. An optional in‑app purchase unlocks additional convenience features and supports ongoing development (no subscription required).
Only one app can use Android’s VpnService at a time. If another VPN or firewall app is active, you’ll need to choose which one to use. Blocking connectivity can affect app functions (for example, messengers need internet access to receive messages; streaming apps need internet to play). If an app stops working, simply allow it again or switch the rule to Wi‑Fi only.
Firewall No Root does not replace operating system security updates and cannot guarantee protection against all threats — but it can help reduce your attack surface, cut down unnecessary background connections and strengthen everyday privacy.
